On July 23^rd 2011, H.E. Mr. Chakorn Suchiva, Ambassador of the King of Thailand to Portugal attended the opening ceremony of handicraft fair (Feira de Artesanato) at Vila do Conde hosted by Mr. Mario Almeida, President of the City Hall of Vila do Conde and Mr. Antonio Saraiva Dias, the President of Association of Defence of Handicraft and Heritage of Vila do Conde. Ambassador Chakorn Suchiva got the opportunity to see locally made handicrafts from various regions of Portugal. In addition, he got to experiment Portuguese traditional way of knitting embroidery. This year, as a commemoration of 500 years of relations between Thailand and Portugal, The President of the fair had invited and offered Thailand the opportunity to display and sell Thai handicrafts and various Thai foods. The Thai booth consisted traditional Thai massage sponsored by Medithai, a well-known Thai massage parlor with shops located in Lisbon and Porto. Painting of umbrella, a well-known technique from northern part of Thailand was shown along side with the demonstration of fruit carving by a specialized Thai artist. Visitors got to experience traditional Thai dance performed by a Thai dance crew from the Netherlands. Aside from the handicraft fair, an exhibition about Thai photography also took place. The photo exhibition was meant to show many aspects of Thailand, its culture and the people. A local television channel interviewed Ambassador Chakorn about the significance of Thai-Portuguese relations. With this event, Thailand could expose the culture to a large scale audience and most importantly strengthen its amicable relation with Portugal.

วันที่ 23 กรกฎาคม 2554, นาย ชาคร สุชีวะ เอกอัครราชทูตไทย ประจำโปรตุเกสได้เดินทางไปเมือง วีล่า ดูโกงด์ ทางเหนือของประเทศ เพื่อเข้าร่วมพิธีเปิดงานแสดงสินค้า ทางสอทได้รับการต้อนรับจากนาย Mario Almeida เทศมนตรีและนาย Antonio Saraiva Dias ประธาน เจ้าของงานแสดงสินค้า นายชาคร สุชีวะ ได้มีโอกาสเดินชมสินค้าต่างๆของแต่ละจังหวัดที่ได้นำมาแสดงและจำหน่ายที่งาน ถ้าเปรียบกับไทยก็คืองานแสดงสินค้า OTOP  นอก จากนั้นทางงานได้ขอเชิญและเปิดโอกาสให้ทาง สอท มาแสดงสินค้าไทยที่งานในโอกาสความสันพันธ์ ๕๐๐ ปี ไทย-โปรตุเกส แขกที่มาชมได้มีโอกาสชื่นชมสินค้าและวัฒนธรรมไทยต่างๆอย่าง เช่นการได้รับประทานอาหารไทยต่างชนิด การชมการแสดงไทยแบบดั้งเดิม รวมไปถึงการระบายสีร่มและการแกะสลักผลไม้ และการจำหน่ายสินค่าไทย ส่วนที่เป็นที่นิยมมากที่สุดน่าจะเป็นการนวดแบบไทยซึ่งจัดโดย ร้านนวดเมดีไทย ที่มีสาขาทั้งในลิสบอนและปอร์โต   ก่อน ที่จะจบงาน นาย ชาคร สุชีวะได้ให้คำสัมพาสกับทางทีมข่าวของโปรตุเกสเกี่ยวกับความสัมพันธ์ ๕๐๐ ปี ไทย-โปรตุเกส ก่อนที่จะเดินทางไปชมงานแสดงภาพถ่ายเกี่ยวกับประเทศไทย   การ ที่สอทได้ร่วมงานครั้งนี้ถือเป็นโอกาสสำคัญเพราะนอกจากเป็นโอกาสที่ประเทศ ไทยได้ส่งเสริมแสดงศิลปะและวัฒนธรรมของไทยแก่ชาวโปรตุเกส แต่ได้กระชับความสัมพันธ์ที่ดีของทั้งสองประเทศ
