เมื่อวันที่ 21 กุมภาพันธ์ 2555 เวลา 15.30 - 16.30 น. เสด็จฯ เป็นองค์ประธานในพิธิเปิดศาลาไทย ณ สวนสาธารณะวาสกู ดา กามา (Vasco da Gama) เขตเบเล็ง กรุงลิสบอน ซึ่งกระทรวงการต่างประเทศ โดยสถานเอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงลิสบอน และกระทรวงวัฒนธรรม โดยกรมศิลปากร ได้ร่วมกันจัดสร้างขึ้น เพื่อมอบเป็นถาวรวัตถุและของขวัญให้แก่ประชาชนชาวโปรตุเกส ในโอกาสที่ทั้งสองประเทศมีความสัมพันธ์อันยาวนานในฐานะมิตรประเทศบนพื้นฐานของความเท่าเทียมกัน ทั้งนี้ รัฐบาลโปรตุเกสและเทศบาลกรุงลิสบอนได้ให้ความร่วมมือเป็นอย่างดีในการจัดหาสถานที่และอำนวยความสะดวกเพื่อก่อสร้างศาลาไทยดังกล่าว ในโอกาสนี้ มีผู้เข้าร่วมในพิธีดังกล่าวประมาณ 200 คน ทั้งจากฝ่ายไทยและโปรตุเกส อาทิ ภริยาประธานาธิบดีโปรตุเกส นายกเทศมนตรีกรุงลิสบอน รัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการต่างประเทศของไทยและโปรตุเกส รัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงวัฒนธรรมของไทย และคณะทูตานุทูตต่างประเทศ ตลอดจนชุมชนชาวไทยที่พำนักอยู่ในโปรตุเกส

ต่อมา ในวันเดียวกัน เวลา 16.45 – 19.30 น. ได้เสด็จฯ ไปยังพิพิธภัณฑ์ตะวันออกไกล เพื่อทอดพระเนตรการแสดงศิลปวัฒนธรรมไทยโดยคณะนักแสดงดนตรีและนาฏศิลป์จากกรมศิลปากร ณ หอประชุมพิพิธภัณฑ์ฯ และทรงแสดงดนตรีไทย “เพลงโหมโรง” ร่วมกับคณะนักดนตรีไทยของกรมศิลปากร และทรงร่วมงานเลี้ยงรับรองการฉลองความสัมพันธ์ทางการทูตไทย-โปรตุเกสครบรอบ 500 ปี รวมทั้งทอดพระเนตรนิทรรศการอาหารไทยและการสาธิตการทำขนมไทยที่ได้รับอิทธิพลจากโปรตุเกสด้วย ทั้งนี้ มูลนิธิไทยเป็นผู้มีส่วนสำคัญในการประสานและดำเนินการที่เกี่ยวกับกับพิธีเปิดศาลาไทย การแสดงทางวัฒนธรรมไทย และการเลี้ยงรับรองข้างต้นด้วย

ในวันที่ 22 กุมภาพันธ์ 2555 สมเด็จพระเทพรัตนราชสุดาฯ สยามบรมราชกุมารี เสด็จฯ ไปทอดพระเนตรกิจการของพิพิธภัณฑ์กระเบื้องแห่งชาติโปรตุเกสและศูนย์ศึกษา/ค้นคว้าทางวิทยาศาสตร์ “ชอมปาลิโมลด์” เพื่อการศึกษาโรคที่ยังวินิจฉัยไม่ได้ (Champalimaud Center for the Unknown) และก่อนเสร็จสิ้นการเสด็จฯ เยือนโปรตุเกส ได้ทรงเข้าพบหารือกับนายอานิบัล คาวัคกู   ซิลวา ประธานาธิบดีสาธารณรัฐโปรตุเกส และได้รับการถวายเลี้ยงพระกระยาหารกลางวัน ณ ทำเนียบประธานาธิบดีด้วย
 

          On 21 February 2012, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn presided over the official inauguration of the Thai Pavilion located in Vasco da Gama Park, district of Belem in Lisbon. The Thai Pavilion, a joint project of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Royal Thai Embassy in Lisbon and Department of Fine Arts, Ministry of Culture, is given to City of Lisbon and the peoples of Portugal as a monument of close and long-lasting friendship between the two countries based on principles of equality and mutual respect. Government of Portugal and City of Lisbon give their full support in choosing the appropriate site and facilitating all arrangements concerning the construction of the Pavilion. The Ceremony was witnessed by Mrs. Maria Cavaco Silva, the First Lady, Mr. Antonio Costa, Mayor of Lisbon, who also joined HRH the Princess in the co-cutting ribbon for the official opening of “Sala Thai”, together with more than 200 guests, including Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, Minister of Culture of Thailand, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Portugal, Portuguese honoured guests, foreign diplomats and Thai community’s member living in Portugal.

Later, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn visited the Orient Museum where the Thai cultural performance was organized at the Museum’s auditorium. In addition, Her Royal Highness graciously performed “Prelude of Thai Instrument Ensemble” together with a Thai classical band from Department of Fine Arts of Thailand. Afterwards,

Her Royal Highness attended the reception, arranged by Thailand Foundation, together with the Royal Thai Embassy, on the occasion of the celebration of this auspicious occasion where the demonstration and exhibition of the Portuguese-influenced Thai cuisine and dessert were displayed.

On 22 February 2012, HRH the Princess paid a visit to National Tile Museum and Champalimaud Center for the Unknown. To mark the completion of the visit, HRH the Princess met with H.E. Professor Anibal Cavaco Silva, President of the Republic of Portugal at Belem Palace. At this occasion, President of Portugal hosted a luncheon in honour of Her Royal Highness.
