On 10 March 2026, the Royal Thai Embassy in Lisbon hosted an online meeting with AICEP (Agency for Investment and Foreign Trade of Portugal) and the BOI Paris Office. Participants included , Ms. Nuntanat Krisanachinda, Director of BOI Paris Office and staff, Ms. Supapan Tiapiriyakij, Minister-Counselor, Ms. Francisca e Vale, Deputy Director of the Africa, Asia and Oceania Department, and Mr. João Nogueira, Thailand Desk Officer.

The meeting created a network between BOI and AICEP, which are government agency responsible for promoting foreign investment of Thailand and Portugal, respectively. The Thai side briefed on Thailand’s opportunities and potential as an investment base for foreign companies, including the incentives offered by BOI for foreign businesses. Portuguese private sector representatives were also invited to participate in SubCon 2026 in Thailand in May 2026, whereby AICEP will help disseminate information of Thailand’s potentials and SubCon 2026 to Portuguese business companies.

AICEP will collaborate with BOI in organizing activities to provide Portuguese companies with the necessary information for making business decisions regarding investment in Thailand, including Thailand’s competitiveness as a gateway to the Southeast Asian consumer market of over 650 million people.

At present, four Thai companies have investments in Portugal, operating in automotive parts manufacturing, recycled plastic production, processed seafood manufacturing, and a five-star hotel business. However, there are currently no Portuguese companies investing in Thailand. Both sides agreed to continue organizing investment promotion activities to encourage greater bilateral investment in the future.
