The Royal Thai Embassy has stopped receiving in person visa applications as from today 21 October 2022 in preparation for our new online stickerless E-visa application service.

From 1 November 2022, the Royal Thai Embassy, Lisbon will launch an online stickerless E-visa application service on https://www.thaievisa.go.th/, which will replace the current in person visa application for Portuguese citizens and travellers with legal residence status in Portugal. The applicants are no longer required to submit passports and original supporting documents in person to the Embassy. Once approved, the e-Visa will be sent to your email. Please print out your e-Visa to present to the airline when checking in your flights and the Thai Immigration officials upon your arrival in Thailand.

Please note that from 1 October 2022 until 31 March 2023, passport holders of Portugal and the following countries/territories can enter Thailand under a tourist visa exemption scheme and stay up to 45 days:

Andorra, Australia, Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, Brunei, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Maldives, Mauritius, Monaco, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Oman, The Philippines, Poland, Qatar, San Marino, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Slovak, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, the UAE, UK, Ukraine, and USA.

From 1 October 2022 until 31 March 2023, passport holders of the following countries/territories can apply for a visa on arrival (VOA) and stay in Thailand up to 30 days: Bhutan, Bulgaria, China, Cyprus, Ethiopia, Fiji, Georgia, India, Kazakhstan, Malta, Mexico, Nauru, Papua New Guinea, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, Uzbekistan, and Vanuatu. Passport holders of the following countries/ territories may enter Thailand without a visa under a bilateral agreement: Cambodia (14 days), Myanmar (14 days), Hong Kong (30 days), Lao PDR. (30 days, Macau (30 days), Mongolia (30 days), Russia (30 days and VOA), Vietnam (30 days), Argentina (90 days), Brazil (90 days), Chile (90 days), Korea (ROK) (90 days), and Peru (90 days).

All visa applicants must submit their applications online via https://thaievisa.go.th/

**IMPORTANT INFORMATION**

- When applying, please exercise extra caution in choosing the right TYPE OF PASSPORT. If you are not a government officer, DO NOT choose "Official/Service Passport"; instead, choose "Ordinary Passport".
- Once submitted, the visa application cannot be amended.
- Those without legal residence status in Portugal are not eligible to apply for visas through our E-visa application service. Proof of legal residence status includes Portuguese residence card and Certificate of European Citizen issued by the Portuguese local authority. Please note that the CERTIFICADO DE CONCESSÃO DE AUTORIZAÇÃO DE RESIDÊNCIA AO ABRIGO DO REGIME DE PROTEÇÃO TEMPORÁRIA is not considered as proof of legal residence status in Portugal. There is no refund for e-Visa application made by those without legal residence status in Portugal.
- Portuguese citizens ARE NOT eligible for Non Immigrant O-X (5 years) visa (350 euro); please do not choose "O-X" when applying. There is no refund for those choosing wrong type of visa.
- If there are mistakes in the application, e.g. wrong spelling of names or wrong passport numbers, the application will be rejected. Applicants will be required to apply and pay again without any refund.
- Applicants must ensure that all their details are correct before submitting and paying for their applications.
- Additional service fees for online payment may be charged by your debit/credit card providers* Please contact your card providers for more information. The Royal Thai Embassy assumes no liability for additional fees incurred by the applicants for their online payment.

1. WHO CAN APPLY FOR E-VISA THROUGH THE ROYAL THAI EMBASSY, LISBON?
- Portuguese citizens and those with legal residence status in Portugal may apply for e-Visa through https://thaievisa.go.th/. Proof of residency are required.
- Those currently residing in other countries should contact the Royal Thai Embassy in their respective countries.
- Portuguese citizens who are currently in Thailand or residing outside Portugal cannot apply for e-Visa through the Embassy. They must first return to Portugal before applying.
- Travel agencies may help their clients apply for e-Visa. Please note that each account created can submit a maximum of 10 applications at a time.

2. WHAT TYPES OF E-VISA ARE AVAILABLE?
- All types of e-Visa: Tourist; Transit; all Non-Immigrant visas (e.g. "O" retirement / "O-A" (long stay) / "B" (working/business) / "ED" (education/study); Diplomatic "D" ; Official "F", except for Privilege Entry Visa.
- Both single and multiple entries are available, subject to prescribed conditions.
- The e-Visa system will help you decide an appropriate type of visa to apply for.
- Portuguese citizens ARE NOT eligible for Non Immigrant O-X (5 years) visa (350 euro); please do not choose "O-X" when applying. There is no refund for those choosing wrong type of visa.

3. IS IT STILL POSSIBLE TO APPLY FOR A VISA IN PERSON AT THE ROYAL: THAI EMBASSY IN LISBON?
- NO. From 1 November 2022, the e-Visa system has replaced all previous visa application arrangments.
- Except for Privilege Entry Visa (for holders of Thailand Elite Card), all visa applications must be submitted online through https://thaievisa.go.th/


4. DO I NEED TO PHYSICALLY COME TO THE EMBASSY OR SEND MY PASSPORT TO THE EMBASSY?
- NO, please do not come to the Embassy, except those who are invited for an interview.
- You do not need to come to the Embassy or send your passport to the Embassy. You will be required to upload the biodata page of your passport and your photo when applying.
- Once approved, the e-Visa will be sent to you via email. You should print it out and keep it together with your passport while travelling.

5. HOW DO I PAY THE APPLICATION FEE AND CAN I GET A REFUND IF MY APPLICATION IS REJECTED?
- Applicants are required to pay the application fee online, through the system.
- The system accepts payment by debit and credit (VISA & MasterCard).
Additional service fees for online payment may be charged by your debit/credit card providers Please contact your card providers for more information. The Royal Thai Embassy assumes no liability for additional fees incurred by the applicants for their online payment.
- If the payment is successful, the application status will show "processing", and the applicants will be able to download a payment receipt.
- If the payment is unsuccessful, there will be a notification stating that the "payment has failed or been cancelled". Please make payment using a different card.
- Once paid, the fee cannot be refunded.
- Please note that the current application fees are:
30 Euro for Transit Visa (per entry)
40 Euro for Tourist Visa
80 Euro for Non-Immigrant Visa "O", "B" & "ED"
175 Euro for Non-Immigrapnt Visa "O-A" Visa

6. HOW LONG IS THE PROCESSING TIME? WHEN SHOULD I APPLY FOR E-VISA?
- Usually 3-7 working days, depending on the completeness of documents, type of visa, and nationality of the applicants.
- Please apply for e-Visa at least a month (but no longer than 3 months) before travelling.
- Applications by certain nationals can take up to 3 months for approval.
- The Royal Thai Embassy cannot accommodate urgent requests. The applicants must ensure that they leave sufficient time for their visa application process before their planned departure.

7. HOW DO I APPLY FOR AN E-VISA?
1. Visit https://thaievisa.go.th/
2. Create an account
- Verification link will be sent via email.
- Your account can be used to apply for an e-Visa for yourself and also other people in your family (up to 10 applications at a time).
- Your account can also be used for future visa applications.
3. Apply for a new visa
- Check your eligibility & choose visa category
- Upload biodata page of passport & a photo taken within the last 6 months (must be in JPG or .JPEG format, Size not exceeding 3 MB)
- Enter personal information, travel document details, address and employment information.
- Enter travel information
- Upload supporting documents
- Pay application fee online
4. Check status
- You can monitor status of your application by logging into your account.
- You may also withdraw your application.
