ตามที่กระทรวงสาธารณสุขได้ยืนยันการพบผู้ป่วยโรคทางเดินหายใจตะวันออกกลาง (Middle East Respiratory syndrome – MERs) รายที่ 2 เมื่อวันที่ 22 มกราคม 2559 รัฐบาลไทยได้ดำเนินมาตรการในการรักษาตัวผู้ป่วย ติดตามและเฝ้าระวังผู้ที่มีความเสี่ยงจากการสัมผัสผู้ป่วยทั้งหมดได้อย่าง รวดเร็วและต่อเนื่อง และได้ดำเนินการเฝ้าระวัง ป้องกัน และควบคุมโรคอย่างครอบคลุมตามมาตรฐานสากล ตลอดจนชี้แจงถึงความมุ่งมั่นของนายกรัฐมนตรีในการแก้ไขปัญหา โดยนายกรัฐมนตรีได้กำชับให้กระทรวงสาธารณสุขปฏิบัติงานอย่างเต็มความสามารถ และขอให้ประชาชนติดตามข่าวสารอย่างมีวิจารณญาณ ไม่ตื่นตระหนก และเชื่อมั่นในระบบสาธารณสุขของไทย ตลอดจนดูแลรักษาสุขภาพและหาความรู้ในการรับมือกับโรคที่ถูกต้อง
        

On 22 January 2016, the Ministry of Public Health confirmed the second case of Middle East Respiratory syndrome (MERs) patient in Thailand.

The Royal Thai Government has implemented proper and timely measures, including contact tracing and providing the affected patient with proper medical care. Those who are at risk from contact with the patient are being monitored closely in accordance with protocols in accordance with international standard. General Prayuth Chan-o-cha, the Prime Minister of Thailand, has expressed his commitment in addressing the issue by instructing the Ministry of Public Health to give priority to the matter. Members of the public are advised to remain calm and follow the news and instruction from credible sources, as well as to practice good hygiene as part of their daily routine.
