เมื่อวันที่ 6 มกราคม 2558 นายชาคร สุชีวะ เอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงลิสบอน ได้รับเชิญจากองค์กรไม่แสวงหากำไรของโปรตุเกส “Matriz Portuguesa” เพื่อบรรยายเกี่ยวกับประเทศไทยให้แก่นักธุรกิจ นักวิชาการและสื่อมวลชนโปรตุเกสจำนวนประมาณ 30 คน ณ โรงแรม Hotel da Estrela กรุงลิสบอน
 

ในโอกาสดังกล่าว เอกอัครราชทูตชาครฯ ได้กล่าวถึงความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างไทยและโปรตุเกสซึ่งมีมาอย่างยาวนานกว่า 504 ปีและเป็นความสัมพันธ์ทางการทูตของไทยกับขาติตะวันตกที่ยาวนานและเก่าแก่ที่สุด โดยโปรตุเกสมีส่วนสำคัญในประวัติศาสตร์ไทย โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งการตั้งรกรากชุมชนโปรตุเกส การแนะนำวิทยาการสมัยใหม่ให้แก่กองทัพสยาม และต้นตำรับขนมหวานไทยหลายชนิด สำหรับความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างทั้งสองประเทศในปัจจุบันยังมีพัฒนาการที่ดีทั้งทางเศรษฐกิจ การลงทุนและการท่องเที่ยว นอกจากนี้ เอกอัครราชทูตชาครฯ ยังได้ให้ข้อมูลเกี่ยวกับประเทศไทยด้านเศรษฐกิจ การลงทุน และการท่องเที่ยวด้วย

ภายหลังการบรรยาย สถานเอกอัครราชทูตฯ และ Matriz Portuguesa ร่วมเป็นเจ้าภาพอาหารกลางวันแก่ผู้เข้าร่วมงาน และได้นำเสนอรายการอาหารที่ผสมผสานระหว่างไทยและโปรตุเกส โดยในส่วนของสถานเอกอัครราชทูตฯ นำเสนอป่อเปี๊ยะทอด แกงเขียวหวานปลาค็อด และขนมหม้อแกง

On 6 January 2015, H.E. Ambassador Chakorn Suchiva was invited by the Portuguese non-profit organization “Matriz Portuguesa” to give a talk on “Meeting the World in Lisbon – Thailand, Economy, Flavours and Culture” at Hotel da Estrela in Lisbon. The Ambassador highlighted the importance of the diplomatic relations between the two countries, the longest and oldest in Thai diplomatic ties to the western world, and also underlined the influences of Portugal in Siam and Thailand since the first Portuguese arrival in Siam in 1511, including the Portuguese settlement, the introduction of the Portuguese missionary work, the modern military training and technics, and the art of dessert making. The Ambassador emphasized the increasing importance of bilateral trade and investment as well as people-to-people contact aspect, with improving trade volume and numbers of tourists visiting each other. Information about Thailand in economic, investment and tourism was also briefed to 30 participants from media, academics and business community in Portugal. 

The Embassy and Matriz Portuguesa jointly hosted a luncheon, introducing to the guests various gastronomic fusion dishes including spring rolls, codfish in green curry and Thai custard “Kanom Mor Kaeng”.
