เมื่อวันที่ 18-21 กรกฎาคม 2555 นายชาคร สุชีวะ เอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงลิสบอน นายดนัย เมนะโพธิ อัครราชทูตที่ปรึกษา และนายเกษมสันต์ ทองศิริ เลขานุการเอก เดินทางไปราชการ ณ หมู่เกาะอะซอเรส (Açores) ซึ่งเป็นเขตปกครองตนเองของโปรตุเกส ตั้งอยู่กลางมหาสมุทรแอตแลนติก ห่างจากโปรตุเกสภาคพื้นทวีปไปทาง ทิศตะวันตกประมาณ 1,500 กิโลเมตร และอยู่ห่างจากทวีปอเมริกาเหนือประมาณ 1,900 กิโลเมตร ทั้งนี้ เกาะอะซอเรสประกอบด้วยเกาะน้อยใหญ่ตั้งอยู่ใกล้เคียงกัน รวม       9 เกาะซึ่งมีรายได้หลักจากการส่งออกผลิตภัณฑ์ที่ทำจากโคนม เนย การทำฟาร์มปศุสัตว์ การประมง และการท่องเที่ยว

วันที่ 19 กรกฎาคม 2555 เอกอัครราชทูตฯ ได้เข้าพบเอกอัครราชทูต Pedro Catarino ผู้แทนรัฐบาลโปรตุเกสประจำหมู่เกาะอะซอเรส ซึ่งมีสำนักงานตั้งอยู่บนเกาะ เตอไซร่า (Terceira) และได้รับฟังการสรุปภาพรวมบทบาท และความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างรัฐบาลกลางโปรตุเกสและรัฐบาลเขตปกครองตนเองอะซอเรส ในโอกาสนี้ ผู้แทนรัฐบาลฯ โปรตุเกสได้จัดเลี้ยงอาหารกลางวันให้แก่เอกอัครราชทูตฯ และคณะ ณ บ้านพักผู้แทนรัฐบาลฯ จากนั้น วันที่ 20 กรกฎาคม 2555 เอกอัครราชทูตฯ ได้เดินทางต่อไปยังเกาะเซา มิเกล (Sao Miguel) ซึ่งเป็นเกาะที่ใหญ่ที่สุดในหมู่เกาะ 9 เกาะ และได้เข้าพบกับนาย Andre Bradford ปลัดสำนักประธานาธิบดี เขตปกครองตนเองอะซอเรส ณ พระราชวังกอนไซเซา โดยได้หารือเกี่ยวกับสภาพเศรษฐกิจ สังคม และวัฒนธรรมของหมู่เกาะ อะซอเรส ตลอดจนแลกเปลี่ยนความคิดเห็นและประสบการณ์ระหว่างไทยและหมู่เกาะฯ เกี่ยวกับแนวทางการส่งเสริมการท่องเที่ยวระหว่างกันด้วย

On 18-21 July 2012, H.E. Mr. Chakorn Suchiva, Ambassador of Thailand to Portugal, together with Mr. Danai Menabodhi, Minister Counsellor, and Mr. Kasemsan Thongsiri, First Secretary, paid a visit to the Autonomous Region of Açores, located in the Atlantic Ocean about 1,500 kilometers west of mainland Portugal and 1,900 kilometers east of North American Continent. Açores is composed of 9 various sizes of islands, where their main incomes derive from economic sectors, including dairy farming, livestock ranching, fisheries and tourism.

On 19 July 2012, Ambassador Suchiva paid a courtesy call on H.E. Ambassador Pedro Catarino, Representative of the Portuguese Republic to the Autonomous Region of Açores at the Representative’s office located in Terceira Island, who gave a briefing on the Region’s Autonomous framework and the role of Portugal’s government on the Region. On this occasion, the Representative of the Portuguese Republic hosted lunch in honour of the Ambassador and the Thai diplomats at his residence. On 20 July 2012, Ambassador Suchiva went on to Sao Miguel Island, Center of Executive branch of the Region and the largest island in the archipelago, and paid a courtesy call on Mr. Andre Bradford, Regional Secretary to the President Office, at Palacio Conceiçao. Both parties exchanged views on politics, economy and tourism of the Region.
