The Royal Thai Embassy in Lisbon collaborate in organising the Southeast Asian Day at the University of Lisbon

On 8 June 2026, the Royal Thai Embassy in Lisbon, in its capacity as Chair of the ASEAN Committee in Lisbon Portugal (ACLP) for the first half of 2026, in collaboration with the Liga de Estudos Asiáticos (the Asian Studies Association - LEA) of the University of Lisbon, and the Embassies of the Philippines, Indonesia, and Viet Nam, organized the Southeast Asian Day at the University of Lisbon.
The event featured a variety of activities showcasing ASEAN cultures and disseminate information on ASEAN. The ACLP presented coffee originating from Thailand, Indonesia, and Viet Nam, offering participants an opportunity to experience the region's diverse coffee heritage. Thailand also organized a workshop on the preparation of Thai herbal cocktails, an introductory Thai language class, and an information booth promoting knowledge and understanding of Thailand. Ms. Supapan Tiapiriyakij, Minister Counsellor, Royal Thai Embassy, representative of ACLP working Group delivered a briefing on ASEAN and the ASEAN–EU Partnership.
The Southeast Asian Day is an annual outreach initiative organized by LEA in collaboration with ACLP to raise awareness on ASEAN and its Member States among Portuguese and international students. The ACLP comprises the ASEAN Member States with resident embassies in Portugal, namely the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Timor-Leste, and Viet Nam. The Chairmanship of the ACLP rotates among its member embassies every six months
