On 26 November 2025, the Royal Thai Embassy in Lisbon, together with the Office of the Board of Investment in Paris (BOI, Paris Office) and the Institute for the Promotion of Latin America and the Caribbean (IPDAL), organized the “Portugal–Thailand Business Roundtable” at Hotel Dom Pedro in Lisbon. The event was attended by Portuguese companies interested in investing abroad, particularly in the Southeast Asian region.
On this occasion, Mrs. Kanokwan Pengsuwann, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to Lisbon, delivered the opening remarks, providing information on trade and investment between Thailand and Portugal, as well as Thailand’s potential and strengths as a foreign investment base in Southeast Asia. These strengths include matured industrial ecosystem and infrastructure, integration with global supply chain and access to a market of more than 700 million people.
Dr. Ivan Gonçalves, President of the General Assembly of IPDAL reiterated Portugal’s trade and investment policy for actively taking part in the global market, recognising that Southeast Asia is one of the most dynamic regions—offering opportunities for Thailand and Portugal to further strengthen their trade and investment partnership.
Ms. Nantanat Krisanachinda, Director of the BOI Paris Office, provided information on the investment incentives and privileges granted by BOI for foreign investors as well as the investment sectors promoted by the Thai government. Mr. Antonio Viñal, AVCO Legal shared information on setting up a foreign business in Thailand.
The roundtable received positive feedback from Portuguese companies and served as an opportunity to build networks between Portuguese private sector and the BOI to discuss doing business in Thailand further.
