เมื่อวันที่ 11 เมษายน 2556 นายชาคร สุชีวะ เอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงลิสบอน พร้อมด้วยข้าราชการสถานเอกอัครราชทูตฯ เดินทางไปเยี่ยมชม โรงงานผลิตไฟฟ้าพลังแสงอาทิตย์ Amareleja Photovoltaic Solar Plant ที่เมือง Moura ซึ่งอยู่ห่างจากกรุงลิสบอนไปทางตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ ประมาณ 220 กิโลเมตร โดยมีนาง Gertrudes Sousa de Barros ผู้อำนวยการฝ่ายประชาสัมพันธ์ของบริษัท Amper Central Solar SA. ให้การต้อนรับและบรรยายสรุปเกี่ยวกับข้อมูลของโรงไฟฟ้าฯ

โรงงานไฟฟ้า Amareleja เป็นโรงไฟฟ้าพลังงานแสงอาทิตย์ที่ใหญ่ที่สุดแห่งหนึ่งในโลก ตั้งอยู่ที่เมือง Moura ภูมิภาค Alentejo ทางตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ของโปรตุเกส และบริหารโดยบริษัท Amper Central Solar SA ซึ่งเป็นการร่วมทุนระหว่างบริษัทพลังงานทางเลือก ของสเปน "Acciona” และ Mitsubishi Corporation ของญี่ปุ่น โดยมีมูลค่าการลงทุน 261 ล้านยูโร  โรงงานไฟฟ้าฯ เริ่มก่อสร้างเมื่อปี 2007 และเริ่มจ่ายไฟฟ้าเข้าสู่โครงข่ายพลังงานไฟฟ้าของโปรตุเกสในเดือนธันวาคม 2008 มีศักยภาพการผลิตสูงสุด 46 MWp และสามารถผลิตไฟฟ้า 93 ล้านกิโลวัตต์-ชั่วโมง  จากแผงรับแสงอาทิตย์ซึ่งปรับหมุนตำแหน่งได้ตามตำแหน่งของดวงอาทิตย์ จำนวน 2,520 แผง

On 11 April 2013, H.E. Ambassador Chakorn Suchiva paid a visit to Amareleja Photovoltaic Solar Plant in Moura, located 220 kilometers southeast of Lisbon. At the plant, Mrs. Gertrudes Sousa de Barros, Guest Relations of Amper Center Solar SA., welcomed the Thai delegation and gave a briefing on the overview of the solar plant.

Amareleja Photovoltaic Solar Plant, one of the world’s largest photovoltaic plants, is located  in Moura, Alentejo Region of Portugal and run by Amper Central Solar SA, a Joint Venture between the Spanish renewable energy company “Acciona” and the Japanese Mitsubishi Corporation. The total investment of the project is 261 million euros. The peak capacity of the power plant is 46 MWp., with estimated production of 93 million kilowatt-hours, generated from 2,520 rotatable solar trackers. The project began in 2007 and started supplying the energy to the Portuguese power grid in December 2008.
